Maddie was born November 11, 2007, 11 weeks and 1 day premature. After 68 days in the NICU at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, January 18, 2008 she was finally able to go home with her loving parents, Heather and Mike Spohr. While in the NICU Maddie’s mom kept regular updates of her site for family and friends. Maddie’s time at the NICU has been chronicled at Heather’s blog, The Spohrs Are Multiplying and can be viewed here.
Madeline continuously graced the pages of The Spohrs Are Multiplying, with her wondrously gorgeous smile and bright eyes. She is truly a godsend. Maddie and her whirlwind of energy was a tremendous force to be reckoned with as she constantly had her parents, family and friends in stitches with her antics and goofy grins.

An honest to goodness angel on earth, Madeline Alice was unexpectedly called back to Heaven April 7, 2009 . At a mere 17 months old, this beautiful, shining star touched more lives than she could ever possibly know. Many who never met Maddie have been shattered by her loss: myself included. Never before has such an energetic little girl, so full of charisma, truly lightened the day with a simple smile.
