On Tuesday, as I drove from Maddie's service to the reception that followed, I passed by Providence St. Joseph's hosptial in Burbank. I have not gone into the building since the day we were finally able to bring our son home from the NICU. I did not know Heather very well - but she and I are both on the March of Dimes Family Teams Committee for the Los Angeles division. My heart aches for her and all families that have endured the loss of a child. I am planning to assemble some kits for my son's NICU in Maddie's honor. All babies in need of special care are shipped off to a real city as opposed to our local hospital. It's unfortunate for families in our area but the hospital to which they are sent is a fabulous one. We did, however, have a balloon launch of our own which has its own flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrsjennahatfield/sets/72157616631401798/ And we've joined a MoD walk in Pittsburgh. We normally walk every year but couldn't attend our local one due to a speaking engagement I have that weekend. However, thanks to Sarcastic Mom's list, I found that Pittsburgh is hosting a different weekend... and off we go.
